Far too few people really trust and understand their leaders enough to truly engage and create results beyond what they thought possible.
In other words, too many are tentative in fully giving of themselves, their energy, ideas and effort…momentum stalls when they don’t clearly understand and see themselves in the mission – the ‘why, what and how’.
This drastically limits what organisations can achieve and on a bigger scale, the positive impact on all of us. Resistance, withdrawal and disengagement, misplaced efforts and wasted opportunities…this has real world impacts.
We need our public, private and not-for-profit organisations to perform to the highest levels possible and respond with agility and innovation to new threats and opportunities.
But even with the right talent, strategy, capital and technology…organisations can languish in mediocre performance and poor outcomes over time. At best, reducing enjoyment, at worst causing real harm.
Frequently, the hidden but foundational cause is a lack, erosion or breakdown of the fundamental trust and clarity that only leaders can generate and guard at scale. It is theirs to build and to lose.
That’s why it matters. Because the most powerful lever, that only leaders hold, is that they are uniquely placed to generate and model the fundamentals conditions of trust and clarity.
‘Without trust and clarity we can get on the plane, but with them we have a chance to fly’
